Garage Dance Ensemble Films

In 2020 the impact of the Covid Pandemic brought about a transition to the digital realm for the creatives at Garage Dance Ensemble. Consequently  3 dance films were made between 2020 and 2022.

“Die Dans van my Heenkoms” (The Dance of my Origins) a documentary on Hinkel’s first major work to Ravel’s Bolero (2020).

 

 “Gat innie Grond, Wond in my Siel”(Hole in the Ground, Wound in my Soul) a film by Byron Klassen inspired by academic Janine Lange’s PhD titled Storytelling and memories of structural violence in the Northern Cape (2021).

 

“Krummelpap, Afval en Sunlightseepbaddens” (Crumbed Porridge, Tripe and Bathing with Cheap Green Soap). A Faroll Coetzee film version of Hinkel’s production by the same name written by award winning poet Ronelda Kamfer.
